Ralf Rangnick has revealed that his talks with AC Milan broke down due to a lack of clarity from the club. The Austrian national team coach had been courted by the Rossoneri for several weeks to take on a technical director role. Rangnick stated that he had requested clarity from the outset, but it was not forthcoming.

Rangnick ultimately decided to renew his contract with the Austrian Football Federation until 2028. He cited several factors that influenced his decision, including the availability of his technical staff. The coach expressed his satisfaction with the choice, saying it was the right decision to remain in charge after the World Cup.

The German coach disclosed that there had been initial contacts with Milan three weeks ago, but the club had not provided the level of clarity he required. Rangnick emphasized that he needed to have clarity before the World Cup for himself, the team, the country, and the Austrian Football Federation.

Rangnick's decision to stay on with Austria means he will focus solely on the World Cup, which begins with a match against Jordan on June 17.
